APA Hotel Shinagawa Togoshi Ekimae

There are hundreds of food options along the same street, although the hotel itself doesn’t have a restaurant. The staff were very friendly, and most spoke enough English for the basic check-in conversation. Togoshi Station is right across the street, and Togoshi Ginza is also nearby, on the famous and wonderful Togoshi Ginza shopping street. The hotel is away from the more touristy parts of the city, but those stations make it easy to get around. For the price, it’s a great deal. My room was compact but very clean and nicely presented, with everything I needed, including a mini fridge for snacks.

Everything else was fine, but the centralized heating and cooling made the stay miserable. It was extremely hot in my room, and the hotel kept the heating on the whole time, probably to save energy.

I’d rate the location 5 out of 5, the rooms 5 out of 5, and the service 4 out of 5. There are lots of great restaurants, bars, on Sen, and other activities nearby, with shopping and grocery stores within walking distance. The rooms are well designed, with the latest tech for the lights and other comfort features, and the bathrooms have all the amenities you’d want. Highly recommend.

Right on a huge shopping street, so the location is really, really good. The staff are welcoming and patient when you don’t know the language. The rooms are cozy and efficient, with enough space, and they get cleaned often. Sure, they may seem small, but that’s normal for hotels in Japan. You’re not going to stay in your room all day when there’s all of Tokyo to explore. The showers are amazing. I’d strongly recommend it for first-time visitors or anyone, really.
