Chisun Hotel Kamata

The room was huge by Japanese standards, though a luggage rack like the ones in other business hotels would have helped. The amenities were available in the lobby, and there are convenience stores and a Tokyu supermarket nearby. It's an old building. The room was clean, but the carpet in it and in the elevator showed its age, with some stains. The main entrance is only a couple of minutes away, and the south exit of Kamata Station is less than a five-minute walk, though it has no elevator.

A clean hotel with friendly staff, and there are plenty of shops and food options not too far away. It's between an emergency center and a bowling alley and arcade. The ambulance sounds were infrequent and muffled, so they weren't a reason to avoid the place. I slept with the window open and liked hearing the occasional rescue bringing in a patient.

The staff took great care of everything, and we felt relaxed and welcome as soon as we arrived. I really liked the atmosphere, and staying at Chisun HOTEL Kyoto was a refreshing escape. I've booked the same hotel in Nagano for this coming February 2026. See you soon!

The AC was the big problem for us. Its controls wouldn't let us cool the room, and the bedside selector only turned on heat. I'm very sensitive to heat, which made the stay pretty unpleasant. They gave us a small portable AC, but it was too weak to make much difference. We tried sleeping with the window open, but it barely helped, and the expressway right outside was loud. Otherwise, things were fine for the price: the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was large and clean, and there were free toiletries and other basics. Non-controllable AC seems to be a recurring issue in Japan. These hotel rooms get hot, and I mean hot. At our first hotel here, the room was 82 degrees Fahrenheit when we walked in.
