The Citadines Central Shinjuku is right in the middle of busy Shinjuku, with the Golden Gai pub strip just behind it. It’s in the red light district, which made the stay more exciting and interesting for us. Trains, the Love Statue, which we visited for two tours, the Cat Board, Godzilla, and loads of bars and restaurants were all within easy walking distance. There’s a Lawsons on the ground floor and a Seven-11 about 10 metres down the road. Our room was excellent and big by Tokyo standards, with two king single beds, great pillows, a bathtub and a separate shower. The Japanese toilet had all the bells and whistles. Free amenities, delicious coffee bags and a range of teas were nice to have, and the foyer’s coffee machine was totally awesome and free. Harry at the front desk spoke perfect English and made check-in and check-out easy. We chose Citadines because the rooms looked spacious, and ours certainly was. The one small gripe was breakfast, which cost ¥19500 and was quite ordinary, with limited choices. Two rounds of excellent sandwiches at Lawson’s cost less than ¥500. Even with that one minor issue, I’d recommend the hotel to anyone wanting good facilities and a good location while seeing Tokyo and its nightlife. Two thumbs up!

The room was large and clean, with the bath separate from the toilet, which isn’t a common layout at this price in Japan. There was a smart TV for the kids to watch YouTube. Inside, it was quiet and felt private. The lobby is on the 3rd floor, and you need a key card to reach the room floors. Staff were very nice and ready to help, and coffee, tea and water were available free around the clock. Breakfast wasn’t included, and there’s no parking, so you have to use a paid lot nearby. It’s a great spot for nightlife, right in the center of Kabikicho street with nightlife downstairs. But it’s not as close to Shinjuku station as you might think, and it’s not near the bus station either. The walk is about 10 minutes to the train station and almost 20 minutes to the bus station. If you’re relying on public transportation or carrying lots of luggage, it may not be a good choice. I wouldn’t say it’s ideal for families with little kids.

Tea and coffee from reception were complimentary, even if the coffee came from a carton, and the reasonably priced laundry machines on site came in handy. The location is good, near Shinjuku station, and in the middle of the adult nightlife area. The room felt cramped. It was small, with the bed pushed against the wall.

The staff were so friendly. They called a cab for us one morning to get to Disney sea, tidied the room and made the bed every day, and even noticed we didn’t have enough bags for our snacks as we were leaving. One staff member ran to get us an insulated bag. We really appreciated everyone’s kindness. Check-in and check-out were super quick and easy. We stayed from the 1st to the 10th, and the hotel was very convenient. Shinjuku station was less than a 10-minute walk away, with other subway entrances nearby. Lawson, FamilyMart and 7/11 were downstairs, just a couple of minutes away. The lobby has a complimentary coffee machine with syrups that makes great espresso-based drinks. By western standards the room was small, but for what we paid in the heart of Shinjuku, we were happy with its size and amenities. We had a full-size bed, desk and chaise, with plenty of room for us and all our shopping. The bathroom was a highlight, with a deep tub and shower room combo. The TV only had a few channels, but you can link your streaming services if you have them. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it. We hope to return. Thanks for giving us a lovely home base for the trip.
