HOTEL D-WAVE Shinjuku - Adults Only

There are several train stations nearby, so getting around the city was simple, and we found plenty of restaurants within walking distance for exploring the area. The hotel itself was quiet, relaxing, and very well kept. A great place to stay, highly recommended.

We spent a week in a deluxe double room. The price through Chase points was good for the room's size, and we had no trouble using Netflix or karaoke. There was a cigarette smell in the lobby, so ask for a non-smoking room if that bothers you.

The place was peaceful, spotless, and beautifully maintained. We hadn't really known what “adults-only” meant when we booked, but it didn't bother us. No screaming kids or barking dogs, which was a nice bonus. We came two days before our cruise to adjust to the time difference and see the area. The standout was the enormous Jacuzzi tub with lights, in a container room that could also serve as a steam bath or steam room, with a shower attached. They'd left bath salts, a scented steamer sachet, special face products, and premium Bx toiletries. The shampoo and other bath products were top-notch too. The bed was low but surprisingly comfortable. There was a fridge stocked with alcohol, soft drinks, and more. A karaoke setup and huge TV were there for entertainment, though we barely used them. The bidet toilet was amazing, with warm water, a lighted seat, and a warm air dryer. Such a luxury!

The private jacuzzi, massage chair, and dry sauna were the things that sold us. Coming back to relax with those after exploring Tokyo changed the trip for us. My fiance and I were unsure what sort of place this was at first, but we were curious and open to the adults-only setting. It's a hotel for adults, not a bathhouse, and that suited us. It has things you wouldn't expect at a kid-friendly place, plus all kinds of things to use on the TV. They provide just about everything you might need, from toothbrushes and mouthwash to sunscreen, foundation, hairbrushes, and scrunchies. The staff were very friendly. They took our luggage to the room while we waited for check-in. I read a review saying luggage is left at the front, which must have been a mistranslation. It's the physical key you leave at the hotel. They give you a card to take to the 24/7 front desk in exchange for the key, and we were fine with that since we didn't want to be responsible for the key. The room is definitely vintage. It felt authentic for our first Tokyo visit, and we didn't mind. The amenities have been updated with USB-C, a hairdryer, a bidet, and more. The one thing I didn't like was the smoke smell in the hallway. There are signs asking guests not to smoke, and the room had an air purifier, so the hotel seems aware of it. Still, it's something to keep in mind. Otherwise, a perfect stay. I'd recommend it to an open-minded couple looking for somewhere different from a typical flagship hotel. We wanted to be in Shinjuku, and this was close to everything.
