The shared areas were spotless, everything I needed was provided, and the First Class Cabin was small but made good use of its space. As a solo woman catching an early flight, I tried a capsule hotel for the first time because hotel prices were so high. Check-in is mixed-gender, though the guest area for women is safely separated. The gaps around the doors let noise through, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. I arrived around 9 p.m. and had to keep extra quiet since other guests were already asleep.

I only needed a shower and a nap, and there are two showers and saunas. Women also have a hair dryer and toiletries. Pajamas cost extra, despite a review saying they were free. Large bags are better left with the concierge, and you can bring your things into the room and lock them away, though you can't lock the room itself because of the rules, according to staff. They ask guests not to set alarms, but people in my room did anyway since alarms seem necessary when catching a flight.

The location is ideal, which is a big plus for convenience. The room has the basic amenities, but the shutter doesn't close all the way and there's no lock. Light also reflected back into the cabin, so I didn't sleep well and didn't feel secure. If a good night's sleep matters to you, there are quite a few other hotels to choose from at Haneda.

After an 18-hour trip, having to wait until 7 p.m. to check in was rough. The cabin also had a blinding light coming in, and shifting around to avoid it meant lying in an uncomfortable position. The sliding doors were so loud that it sounded like my own door was opening each time. They charged extra for one more towel, so I couldn't try the morning spa dip. I'll stay at another hotel next time.

At $140 AUD a night, it wasn't cheap, but it saved me a lot of hassle before my 7 a.m. flight. I stayed in business class and really enjoyed the overnight visit. The cabins were roomy enough to avoid feeling cramped, and everything was clean, quiet, and respectful. They ask everyone to keep noise down. Security didn't seem great, though I wasn't worried that my belongings would be stolen. Reception even came to let me know when my bus to Terminal 3 had arrived. Great service.
