Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya

The rooms have the usual business hotel feel. The location is handy, about a seven-minute walk from the train stations and close to the Ministry of Defense. Breakfast is available for ¥1,700 for guests or ¥2,000 for others, and parking is first come, first served. There are cafes, fast food, restaurants, convenience stores, and ATMs around the area.

My east wing double twin room was spacious and had a decent view, and being right by the station made getting around easy. The bed was comfortable and the water was hot, but a horrible smell came from the tub drain from the minute I arrived. It looked and smelled really unsanitary. There was no microwave, though the room did have a mini fridge, boiler, and air purifier. Slippers and a night shirt were provided, with extra toiletries available in the lobby. At checkout I was charged for using the room phone, even though I couldn't find anything saying calls cost extra.

I really liked the food, and there were plenty of choices. The hotel has a classic look, while the rooms and furniture felt new and were very clean. My first room looked out onto a lovely Japanese garden. On my second visit, I had a bright, beautiful view of the river from the street side. The room and bathroom were fairly large and well equipped, the station and other facilities were nearby, and there were lots of staff around to help. Thank you very much. :)

The bed was great and there was plenty of room, with a lovely view of the lake from the eighth floor. I did miss a few things I've had at other places, like a toothbrush and complimentary drinks in the fridge. If you don't speak Japanese, talking with the staff may be tricky. I couldn't find a single person there who spoke English.
