Hundredstay Tokyo Shinjuku

The room had a lovely city view from the 19th floor, and the free downstairs laundry and dryers came in handy after exploring Osaka and Kyoto. We also got a good price for five nights, and the room was surprisingly spacious by Tokyo standards. The kitchen was fully equipped with a sink, electric stove, microwave, fridge, and kettle, basically everything except a sushi chef. The location was spot-on, right by major train lines and plenty of places to eat, which was especially welcome when we were jet-lagged and hungry. A comfortable, convenient stay with a great view that didn’t break our travel budget.

The view was great, and the location made getting around easy, but the stay wasn’t worth what we paid. We had a four-bed room for three nights. The bedroom smelled of body odor even with the air filtration machine running nonstop, and the uncomfortable bed gave me back pain. Water dripped from the ceiling onto my husband’s bed when the AC was on. The hotel policy meant our room wasn’t cleaned during the stay.

The counter staff could only arrange a cleanup and apologize, which was a huge disappointment on my third stay at the hundred stay hotel. The room was filthy, with dust that looked like it had built up for months, and garbage from the previous tenant left in a cabinet. The air purifier was broken too. When I first reported it, the hotel told me to sleep there for the night because staff wouldn’t clean until the next morning, and they wouldn’t move me to another room. I checked more carefully and found dust all over. I went back down, and they sent colleagues to clean, but the walls and ceiling were covered in dust. How could they get all of that clean? I still had to keep sleeping in that room.

I was very happy with my stay. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the room was spotless, especially the bathroom. Having the room cleaned every four days seemed reasonable, and the towels delivered to the door each day were really convenient.
