Kagurazaka Retro Bar & Hotel

The check-in instructions left us unsure where to go, but eventually we knocked on the bar door and got checked in. The staff there were friendly and professional. Our clean, comfortable apartment was on the second level, up a short but steep flight of narrow stairs. It's well placed for walking to the train station, shops, and restaurants, and the cobblestone alleyways nearby were charming to explore. We'd stay again.

I keep returning to the retro hotel for its style, location, and service. This time we booked the larger room downstairs, with a separate bedroom and living room. There was space in the bedroom for our suitcases, and it had all the amenities, including a washer and dryer. The bathroom was nicely done in Japanese style.

The Japanese-style apartment rooms are traditional, and the bar was great. The staff were really friendly, too. I loved the Okinawa-style drink and hope to come back to sample more of the bartenders' drinks.

The room was clean, and the apartment sits down a cute, French-inspired alley. We heard a lot of noise at night from the bar next door or room 3, though it was taken care of the following night. More fluffy pillows and blankets, or replacements for the ones there, would have made a big difference.
