Nishi-Shinjuku HOUSE FIVE

The owners are a retired couple and were super friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything. They both speak English, and the wife’s is excellent after living in the U.S. for some time. This is a quiet residential part of Shinjuku, so there aren’t many food options. The location is good and the rate is fair. It’s a cute, family-run Inn with only 5 rooms. I got lucky with the upstairs room, which had lots of light and a city view. It was spacious, with a cozy bed, down comforter, and good mattress. The bathroom was nice and had good water pressure, though the sink’s hot water didn’t work for some reason. That wasn’t a big deal, and I didn’t ask for a fix since I was there for just 2 short nights. They don’t clean the room every day, but will bring fresh towels if you need them. Highly recommend you try them out.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a dehumidifier/air purifier, electric kettle, coffee pods, tea bags, and rice crackers. The host was helpful and nice, and gave us materials about nearby breakfast and meal spots, attractions, and getting around. There’s also a laundry room with dryers in the building, and the host showed us how to use it. It’s a few minutes’ walk from Hatsudai station in a quiet neighborhood. If you arrive by train, take the east exit and go through Opera City to get to the hotel more easily. I enjoyed my stay very much and will return the next time I’m in Tokyo.

The couple who own the place were lovely and accommodating, and they speak very good English. We found the room cozy and spacious for two. It’s conveniently located in Shinjuku near Shibuya, with easy access to public transport. There’s no housekeeping, which was fine by us, and they have a washer and dryer for clothes and towels. Our suite was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, and the photo of the room was very accurate. The hosts speak very good English. The location is brilliant: a short walk from Shinjuku Station and the TMG observatory, with two metro stations nearby and buses to Shinjuku Station outside. Across the main road in Hommachi, Shibuya, there are lots of small restaurants and hairdressers.
