Oyado Cocochi

The rooms are on the small side, especially for Western travelers, but they're clean and the layout is useful. The sink is separate from the shower and toilet, so two people can get ready at once. Staff are very thorough and will tidy the room every day if you want. It's an older style Japanese hotel, right in central Tokyo by a convenient train that goes to Shinjuku, Tokyo station, Ginza, and more.

For a fair price, we got a room where we could open three large suitcases at once, plus a bathtub to relax in after walking over 20,000 steps a day. It's very close to the JR station and within walking distance of the Airport Limousine Bus station. Loved it!

The bathroom was a highlight: roomy, with a traditional squat shower, a deep tub, a separate toilet, and a pleasant floor seating nook with a low table. The accent wall and decals added to a relaxing, homey feel. Everything is old, but generally well cared for. We slept really well for the first time in a week. The mattress and pillow were more comfortable than those at the more expensive business hotel we'd stayed at in Tokyo, even though the mattress and blanket felt a little short for me at 5'3" (160cm). There was dust on the curtains that looked like it had been there a very long time, but thankfully neither of us has dust allergies. The tap water tasted and smelled bad, perhaps because of a pipe or drain issue. We picked up a large 100¥ bottle from the convenience store instead. We also only got one key for two people. Your experience may differ.

We had an easy time getting to Shibuya and Harajuku via the Yamanote line, and the spacious triple room worked well for me and two teenagers. It had tatami flooring, a little table with three floor cushions, and a mini fridge. The place is older, so it may not suit you if you want something new or a soft bed, but it was just right for us. The beds were firm but surprisingly comfortable, and each had one comfortable pillow. The AC was quiet and worked well, with no traffic noise. The traditional bathroom was large, with a huge tub, and the hand basin area had a good amount of space and a small mirror. They even supplied robes. Friendly, helpful staff, an elevator, and a very convenient location make this great value. Thanks for a great stay!
