Shibuya Creston Hotel

The room was surprisingly roomy for Japan. I could spread open my medium 60x40x25 cm suitcase on the floor, and there was still space to leave our bags around and sort things out later. It had a bed, a long desk by the window, and a decent stretch of floor between the entrance and bathroom. We paid $179.30 USD per night through Klook, and I thought the price was fair. The hotel was very clean, including the non-smoking floor, which didn’t have the cigarette smell we ran into at some other hotels. The staff were kind, and check-in and checkout were easy. We spent about 10-15 minutes walking to places like Shibuya Crossing, Harajuku, Shibuya 109, Shibuya Tower, Pokemon Center, Nintendo Store, and Jump Shop. It was nice that the hotel area itself wasn’t as crowded. But getting outside Shibuya meant walking the full 15 minutes to Shibuya Station, including uphill on the way back to the hotel. After several long days on foot, that got tiring. There wasn’t really a nearby public bus or smaller subway station to make that easier, so next time I’d look for a similarly sized room closer to Shibuya Station or another subway stop. There’s no coin laundry in the hotel, just a service that seemed to charge per item. Shirts, pants, and blouses were around 100-150 yen each, which could add up after a few days. The closest coin laundry was about an 8 minute walk away. We used it, and I passed the time shopping at Mega Don Quixote down the street. The internet wasn’t fast enough for YouTube, but it worked well for looking up basic information and booking attractions and tickets. I was also glad we could set the room thermostat to the temperature we wanted. We skipped breakfast. One small oddity: they give you a physical key and ask you to leave it at reception whenever you go out. There’s someone there 24/7, so I didn’t have to worry about losing a key card, but if my partner and I split up, we’d have to coordinate returning the key or leave the door propped open. I’d book here again, though I’d first see if I could find a hotel with a similar sized room nearer Shibuya Station.

We’ve enjoyed being able to walk to nearby parks, restaurants, and other lovely spots from this well located hotel in central Tokyo. The place was clean, and the service was very friendly.

Quiet spot close to the center, with stores all around and helpful staff. My room was clean, and they seemed to sanitize everything regularly. I liked the room and what came with it, though it’s an older style hotel. A couple of small things: there should be more spoons or forks, and the cleaner left my pajamas on top of the TV. Maybe it was just an accident they forgot to fix. The non-smoking room really was non-smoking, but if you want smoking, choose a smoking room.
