Shin-Koenji Guesthouse (Female Only)

I had an amazing stay at this guesthouse.

The owner was friendly and quick to reply, which put me at ease during my solo stay. It's a women-only guesthouse in a clean, quiet residential area, so I felt comfortable traveling alone. The room and shared areas were clean. You get the whole room to yourself, though the kitchen, shower, and toilet are shared. The bunk beds can sleep two or three people, but since I was alone, I used the bunk as storage and it worked perfectly. Each room has a decent-sized refrigerator, so there's no need to worry about how shared-house food is stored. I've sometimes found my own food eaten without noticing, lol. I hadn't minded sharing a fridge before, but having one in the room is actually nice. They leave your key in the mailbox, so you can check in or out anytime outside the designated hours. There's a supermarket and convenience store nearby. Getting around is a little inconvenient, but there's a bus stop fairly close with direct service to Shinjuku and Shibuya. Shin-Koenji Station is about a 1km walk away.

With Typhoon No. 19 approaching, I called at short notice and was able to stay here. The place was hard to find, so I called again, and they were very kind and helpful despite it being late at night. As other reviews say, the manager is really nice. Since it's a women-only guesthouse and the manager was nearby, I felt safe knowing I could call if anything happened. They also emailed me helpful information about ways to get back home. Thank you so much! I'll definitely stay again if I get the chance.

I stayed here for a month and found the location workable, even though the subway station is a 15 minute walk away. There are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby. I felt safe staying here as a woman traveling alone. The room has a refrigerator, and you can do laundry and cook. It was much more comfortable than a typical business hotel.
