Sunlite Shinjuku Hotel

The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. They kept our luggage until transport came to pick it up, and also held it after checkout so we could walk around before our flight. The location in Shinjuku was great for getting where we needed to go, and it was handy to pick up the amenities we needed. Our room was compact, the smallest of the four places we stayed.

The location was good, but I couldn’t sleep on that rock-hard bed, and the pillow was really thin. I’d avoid this place.

Whenever the AC was running, the room smelled of cigarette smoke. It got a little warm trying to sleep with it off, but that was better than having the smoke smell fill the room.

It’s an aging hotel that’s been renovated, and the result is a clean, comfortable, budget-friendly place popular with international travelers. The bathrooms look modern and were impressively clean, though the fan didn’t work, which left me unsure about long-term upkeep. The area next door is a busy entertainment district, and the value for money is remarkable. Services are limited, and the atmosphere feels more like an international guesthouse than a full-service hotel.
