Toyoko Inn Tokyo Nihombashi Ningyocho

The location worked really well for exploring east Tokyo. My fiancée and I stayed here for our first three days, visiting Ginza, Nihonbashi, Ningyocho, and Asakusa. The subway station was close, and there were A LOT of konbinis nearby. We ended up going to the same FamilyMart every morning and night. The staff and service were excellent. Check-in was smooth, and our room was cleaned every day, which we appreciated. The front desk ladies tried hard to help even though English clearly wasn't their first language. Before taking the shinkansen to Kyoto, we asked them to help fill in the Japanese luggage-shipping forms for our Kyoto hotel. They weighed our bags, attached the tags, and stored them under a blanket in the luggage service area. We felt at ease knowing the bags would reach our destination. I had mixed feelings about the room. It felt squished, though not claustrophobic, and we mostly treated it as somewhere to store everything we brought back from our day's adventures because there wasn't much space. The bedding fabric was much rougher than at the other places we stayed, and the very firm mattress was fine for me, but my fiancée was feeling it by our last day. The bathroom fan was either very weak or not working. Also, the bathroom floor was raised and the doorway had a lip we kept tripping over. The shower height couldn't be adjusted, which was frustrating when I'm just under 6 feet and my hair touched the shower head. Breakfast is served as a buffet in the main lobby, which gets busy as people come and go in the morning. We saw the same two smiling grandmas keeping the trays stocked, and that was really heartwarming.
