A lovely hotel in Shodoshima. The staff were friendly and very accommodating about dietary restrictions. They also offer a range of services, including a hotel shuttle and late night snacks and drinks.

A relaxing stay, with attentive hotel staff and breathtaking views all around the property. The hotel also has an onsen and full board, making it a great place to stay with really nice views.

The public bath, meals, and transport service all added to a great hotel experience. I’d recommend choosing a room with an ocean view.

The views from the rooms and the hotel are excellent, and from most rooms you can see Angel Road. The south facing outlook means you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset without too much sun glare. Overlooking Angel Road, it’s a great choice if you’re visiting Tonosho or Shodoshima and want a higher class Japanese or Western stay. There are lots of large rooms in both styles. Japanese rooms have tatami mats and excellent shikifutons, a distinctive experience if you haven’t slept the traditional Japanese way before. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from the Port. You can also reach Angel Road in under 10 minutes using the stairs from the front entrance down to the main road, or take the winding route used by the shuttle bus. The stairs are quite steep and rusty in a few places, but manageable. Near the top of the hotel, the local spa and onsen is smaller and simple, but it’s a relaxing spot for hot water and ocean views. The balconies and terrace with chairs are also lovely places to sit and enjoy the view and weather. Meals include traditional Japanese dinners with multiple courses and local specialties. Since Shodoshima is known for olives, some dishes feature local olive oil and olives. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, polite, and engaged. They understood and spoke enough English for foreign travelers, and the attention to detail was excellent. Great value and a great experience on this wonderful island.
