We had 10 people, but there was still loads of room in this traditional Japanese wooden house. The futons were really comfortable, and everything was clean. The owner was incredibly kind, efficient, and quick to reply, probably the best owner I’ve come across so far. It’s less than a five-minute walk to the nearest tram stop, with a supermarket and local public hot spring within walking distance too.

There was plenty of sleeping space for our family of nine, though we had to line our luggage along the corridor because storage space was limited. The bath was roomy, and they left us complimentary bath powder. The house looked a bit startling from the outside, but inside it had a cozy, grandma’s-house feel. It was a little stuffy and reasonably clean, though some kitchen items could use replacing. We skipped the outdoor seating because it was too chilly. A really big supermarket is an eight-minute walk away. For the price, it was a decent place.

A cozy little hostel in an old house that’s still in good shape, with nice traditional details like ranma. Several people run the place. The guy on duty during my visit spoke very good English, if that’s a concern. There’s a pleasant area out front for a smoke or a beer, and a couple of BBQ grills that I suppose guests could use. I came by motorcycle, so I’m not sure how far it is from the station, but the grocery store and combini were an easy walk.

The furnishings and other things show the age of this typical old Japanese house, though it has the basic necessities and the toilet has been updated with a washlet. The price was reasonable.
