Palais Blanc Koshikaikan

Never going back. It's inconvenient and old-fashioned in the worst way, like something from the Showa era. Breakfast is a Japanese set meal. The unit bathroom is noisy, the toilet is small, and the place feels unsanitary.

It's close to central Toyama, the room rate is low, and parking is free. The facilities, though, are a bit worn and old. Sometimes there's a sound in the room like a phone vibrating. I couldn't tell where it came from, and it can be noisy. There's a large public bath, but it feels more like one at a training camp. A sauna is available, but there's no open-air or cold bath, and the temperature is low, so don't expect too much.

I went to this beer garden in summer 2025 and found it disappointing for the price. The food selection was limited, with only chicken for meat and no steak. Everything was already cooked and cold. There were no craft beers either, just two kinds of Sapporo beer. I think there were more dishes when I visited two years earlier. I understand prices have gone up, but I don't think it's worth going now. I'd have preferred yakitori at the nearby Akiyoshi.

The calm atmosphere and surprisingly ample parking make this a good location. There's a spiral staircase out front, and the venue seems suited to many kinds of gatherings, from meetings and lectures to ceremonial occasions.
