Business Ryokan Wakakusa

The building, room, and bath all have a Showa-era feel, but everything was well maintained and incredibly clean. The bathtub is huge, which was a big help. It's a very reasonably priced inn, 3,900 yen per person on holidays, with no dynamic pricing. You'll need a car to get there, though; walking from the station is out of the question. Great value, and I'd definitely stay again if I visit Mie Prefecture.

Breakfast was Western style with plenty of fruit. The vegetables and fruit were edible, but some of the food was disappointing, and felt about in line with the price. Since the accommodation was quite cheap, I can't really complain. There were two cockroaches in my room, so I had to move to another one. There were moths and stink bugs in the hallway, probably because it's in the countryside. If bugs bother you, you may want to avoid this place. The air conditioner in my room was dusty, and the shared bathroom and changing room floors had a lot of hair. If you're a germaphobe, it's probably best to stay away.

The price is reasonable, and it's perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. I was there on a weekday evening for business, in a Japanese-style room at this slightly older, privately owned inn. The room was clean, with no noticeable dirt or odors. There's air conditioning you can use freely, but no refrigerator in the room or hallway. The communal bath has a sign showing when it's available, and women should be careful when using it. The building has a charming Showa-era historic feel. There's no elevator, so take care on the stairs. Parking is free, though the lot is somewhat small.

The place was about a 20-minute walk from the station. It was reasonably priced, and I'd like to stay again. The facilities were old, but clean and comfortable, with a homey atmosphere and kind staff. I visited when the shared bath was available 24 hours a day. My room had tatami mats and futons, and I slept extremely comfortably. I was glad there was a TV, and the many clothes drying racks were really helpful. The shared toilets had washlets.
