Hotel Crown Hills Tsuchiuraekihigashi

The location is great, but the room is only equipped with the basics, and there wasn't even a hairbrush. Watch out for the high step between the room and bathroom.

It's close to the station. The staff are kind, and the food is okay.

Breakfast was included, and both the variety and quality were better than I'd expected. At 6,700 yen for two people with breakfast, the price felt reasonable, especially since you can bring a bicycle into the room. There's even a DVD player, which you don't see often. Parking is available for 300 yen, though there's no large public bath. The hotel is right in front of Tsuchiura Station, so it's handy if you're catching a train. We stayed the night before our stay at Kasuichi. There wasn't a free welcome drink offered, perhaps because the front desk caters to foreign guests. The welcome drink selection includes whiskey and shochu, but it's limited to one per person. As other reviewers have said, the bathroom has a very high step that makes it awkward to use.

Lawsons and Family Marts are close by, so picking up what you need is easy. This business hotel is right in front of Tsuchiura Station. Rooms and bathrooms feel a little dated and are on the small side, but they're fine if all you need is a place to sleep. Breakfast is included for free. Parking is 300 yen a night. If that lot fills up, there's apparently a second one, and a nearby coin lot costs 400 yen.
