The meals were so good that we finished everything. This family-run ryokan specializes in shojin ryori and has both a standard, non-vegetarian meal plan and a vegetarian one, also called shojin ryori. We got to try both, and we're grateful they accommodated us. When the dishes were served, they explained them in detail, and we learned about local ingredients like akebi and modashi. We stayed for two nights in late November, mainly to hike to Dewasanzen, and this was the perfect base. The owners are friendly, speak English, and made this one of our best accommodation experiences. Thank you so much for your hospitality ☺️

I arrived late, but the host stayed up and made me rice balls and soup. I'm writing this long after my stay, but I've never forgotten that kindness. The owners were so nice and accommodating. The ryokan is traditional and beautiful, and I felt more at home there than in my own home. It's my favorite place I stayed while living in Japan.

The room was comfortable, and the owners made us feel so welcome. Breakfast and dinner were the best meals I had on my trip to Japan. It's a special place, just a short walk from the entrance to Mount Haguro. I really enjoyed staying here and highly recommend it.

Right next to incredibly beautiful Mt. Haguro, this Ryokan was a great find. The hosts were welcoming, the service was great, and they speak good English. We had a lot of fun with them. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
