One of the best hotels I've stayed at in the past decade.

A perfect spot by the seaside to watch the sunset.

The sea views are lovely from the room, and the beach is only a short walk away, so you can catch beautiful sunsets on both sides. Breakfast in a spot overlooking the sea was nice, though the portions were small and I wasn’t full. The edamame rice was delicious. Most of the meals are seafood, with fish or shellfish in nearly every dish, so this place won’t suit anyone who doesn’t like seafood. There didn’t seem to be rice refills, either, so bigger eaters may not be satisfied. I love the sea, but I’d have liked more meat and mountain produce on the menu. The staff were fairly indifferent, somewhere between attentive and distant. I would have preferred a little more friendliness. The inn has lots of stairs. There are steep steps between the entrance and elevator, and the panoramic open-air bath is up another flight, so it isn’t a good choice for people who have trouble walking. Wheelchair access is impossible. I visited on a very hot day and was worried about the air conditioning, but the room was cool enough. There are no vending machines inside, which is another downside. Drinks in the room fridge cost 440 yen for a 500 ml bottle, far too much, and the shop prices were ridiculous too. An Oronamin C was about 280 yen a bottle. I’d rather have vending machines than a water dispenser.

We had a wonderful family trip, though the weather kept us from seeing the sunset over the sea. The food was delicious from the aperitif onward, and the imoni stew at breakfast was so good I could have eaten bowl after bowl. All the hot springs were lovely too. The staff were very kind, and the person looking after our room made us feel genuinely welcome. I appreciated how they answered our phone questions about how much food to order for the children, and how they handled it when I accidentally left something behind. Thank you. *I checked that no one was in the baths when the photos were taken.

The staff gave clear directions to the parking lot, which was a little hard to find. I was there for a drinking party, and although the weather meant I couldn’t use the rooftop open-air bath, I did get to try the second-floor and basement baths. The one on the second floor was small, but the basement bath was decent. Dinner was very satisfying, with delicious beef and abalone. There was a refrigerator in the room, so I could keep my drinks cold. I’d like to come back on a nice day if I get the chance.
