We had a great time singing karaoke on a rainy morning. The rooms were spacious, the food was excellent, and the onsens, including the outdoor baths and sauna, were great. The service was amazing too. A few days before our stay, they kindly called to let us know about a better deal that meant the kids could stay for free. They also offer a shuttle to and from Tsuruoka station or the airport, but you need to book ahead. A couple of things could be improved. The reduced price tickets to kamo aquarium listed on the room leaflet weren’t available, I guess because the aquarium had just reopened. Toothbrushes and toothpaste could be removed from the towel pack and offered as an amenity instead to reduce plastic. The town has seen better days, and the beach was littered with plastic. I wonder if they do beach cleanups. It could be an activity eco-conscious visitors might want to join.
