U Inn Ueda

The room was spacious, which was the one good point. I came by Shinkansen, and it was a bit of a walk from the station. Wi-Fi was unstable, and the bathroom drain was poor. When I pulled the plug on the tub, water flooded the toilet floor.

The parking lot is roomy and easy to use, and being a little outside Ueda city center makes it quiet. The room was standard, neither good nor bad. But the Wi-Fi was extremely weak, and once the other guests arrived at night it wouldn't connect at all. If all you need is a place to sleep, maybe that's fine, but then I don't see the point of having Wi-Fi. I was also irritated by one front desk staff member's attitude. I gave my room number and name, but they couldn't find my key. Someone else quickly handed it over, which left me wondering why the front desk didn't know where the keys were kept.

The room was old and a bit drab, but spacious. I liked the strong shower pressure, and the location is great, with a large parking lot that's easy to find. The front desk later looked up my questions and gave me answers. My one disappointment was that there were no outlets beside the pillow.

The bath was spacious and relaxing, and breakfast was delicious and just the right amount. The room was average. I wasn't sure about the food options in the area, so I ended up walking to the station and eating at a Chinese restaurant. This was my first stay, and if I'd known the entire prefecture was non-smoking, I wouldn't have booked here.
