Maguro No Oyado Ishigami

A traditional Japanese inn that's above average, with some of the best tuna meals I've had in Japan! 😁

I've stayed here twice, in 2022 and 2023, and this is a review from those visits. The rooms are small but clean, as is the atmosphere, and the staff's hospitality was soothing. The tuna dishes are the highlight, served in all kinds of ways, and every one was truly delicious. You can eat until you're full. If you love tuna, you should definitely visit.

My dad has visited Japan more than 100 times, and he says the kaiseki cuisine and breakfast here are the most delicious. I've never eaten food this good. The owner is incredibly kind, and everything feels perfect. I want to come back next time I'm in Japan.

The dining area had a wonderful view, the service was pleasant, and it was a lovely stay. The rooms and bathrooms were quite ordinary, but that didn't bother me for an auberge. I found photos from my stay quite a while ago and wanted to share. If you go knowing it's an auberge devoted to tuna, I think it meets expectations. Dinner was a full tuna course, all delicious and beautifully presented. I've never enjoyed tuna so much before or since! Since nearly everything is tuna, some people might find it a bit heavy. I was happy with it, as long as you understand the focus.
