The forest beside the hotel was terrifying 😭 I’d read reviews saying the place was haunted, and I can see why they said that. I stayed one night and arrived after dark. The staff were just okay, but I felt uneasy as soon as I entered my tatami-bed room. There was a corner with a TV, table, and window that really didn’t feel right to me. I couldn’t sleep properly. I’d drift off, then wake up again about an hour later, over and over.
It’s an older hotel with a traditional Japanese style and tatami beds. There’s an Onsen to try if you’d like the bathing experience. The view is beautiful, and depending on the weather, I could see mount Fuji.
I loved the view behind our room, and my husband really enjoyed the buffet. The room was fairly large and clean, though the bathroom felt very small. They didn’t provide complimentary mineral water in the room.
Dinner was delicious, and the hotel shuttle saved us time and was a nice touch. The route up to the hotel is a bit difficult, with the bus parking lot at the bottom of a hill and the hotel at the top. Our room was cool, with a large tatami bed, but the bathroom felt cramped to me and was awkward to get to.
The staff were lovely and very helpful, especially the woman at the front desk. The room was comfortable, and the facilities, though a bit old, all worked well. The meals were standard. From the hotel's higher spot, you can see Mt Fuji when the weather allows, and there’s an onsen to try. A cosy place to stay while visiting the Yamanakako area. Overall, a good experience.
