Pension Haku

This place was so clean and everything ran on time. The last check-in is at 6:00 pm, when dinner is served. If you're driving, the parking lot is a 5-minute walk away, though you can pull up in front first to unload your luggage. The host can keep you entertained with a magic trick after dinner if you like, and he's pretty good at it. It's very close to the bus stop, ticketing booth, and equipment rental. okushiga kogen hotel is across the way, so it's easy to get to a bar or pick something up. They have a Japanese-style bath that you can reserve for your own time. Towels are available to rent for 500 yen. It's not a big hotel, but we got a very warm welcome. The host doesn't speak English, though he uses Google Translate to communicate. The food was extremely good, served as a set menu rather than a buffet. Loved our stay in Shiga kogen!

We spent 8 days at Pensiun Haku and will definitely be back next year. The slopes at okushiga kogen are, in my opinion, the best in the area, and the lifts are just 200 meters from the pension. The food was the real standout. Kenzo Sam is a passionate cook who changes the menu every day and keeps surprising you. Dinner is a four-course feast, and breakfast is just as good. The host family is welcoming and helpful. They don't speak English, but they do a good job communicating with Google Translate. The rooms are nice, and two of them have private bathrooms.

The food was great, and the place was warm and clean.

Everything throughout the hotel was very clean. Bring your own towels, toothbrushes, and cleansing product, since those aren't provided, though there was a good range of shampoo and treatment products. A hair dryer was there too. The owner apparently cooked both dinner and breakfast, and every dish was delicious. When we arrived, we were offered homemade baked treats and hot tea, which helped us recover a little from the long trip. And thank you for being so kind to our children.
