Shiga Grand Hotel

The rooms can be a little cold, but the blankets are warm enough to keep you comfortable all night. We had one meal during our stay, and it was delicious, clearly made with care and full of flavor. The hospitality made this ski resort far better than we expected. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us like family, and every interaction felt warm and thoughtful. The woman at the front desk was especially helpful. She even walked with us all the way to the bus station to make sure we got on the right bus. We left feeling truly cared for. Thank you for a wonderful, unforgettable stay.

The room was warm and comfortable, and I slept well. It’s an older-style place, which is just part of staying in Japan, but that didn’t make it less comfortable. Aki, the owner, was exceptionally courteous and helped us move from one hotel to another. She did everything she could to look after us. Highly recommended.

We’re Australians who stayed in the Condo rooms in Shiga Kogen in Jan 26. They seem to have been renovated recently and were finished very nicely. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast had both Western and Japanese choices. To start skiing each day we had a short walk of about 100m down the road to the slope. At the end of the day, we could ski down between two hotels just across the road.

The buffet food was pretty good, but the room for four had one bed tucked inside a cabinet. It felt like paying full price for a Harry Potter experience. Really uncomfortable. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
