My family and I came for a day trip just to take a bath. It seems we arrived after opening hours, but they still welcomed us warmly, and we had a good soak. The open-air bath is made from a huge hollowed-out log, and may be the only one of its kind. The manager later said it was the only one in the world. Thank you!

The inn has fewer than ten rooms, and the onsen was wonderfully relaxing. Its redwood onsen Furo sits outside among the trees, a lovely spot for stargazing. The food was great, especially dinner. I went in mid-August, and the high elevation made the nights chilly and the days pleasantly cool. It's tucked away in a secluded part of Nagano, making it a perfect place to unwind and recharge. Highly recommended.

The setting is amazing, and both the food and onsen were great. I'd love to come back!

I enjoyed the relaxing onsen in the woodblock house, along with the tasty mix of Japanese and Western food. They also have a good range of wines.
