Yudanaka Seifuso

The traditional architecture is impressive, and the hotel felt cozy, clean, and well located in the village. Service was good, too. I'd been wavering between this place and a more contemporary hotel, but I'm glad we chose this family-run onsen hotel. It was the highlight of my Japan trip, and I'm already planning to come back for a ski trip.

The food was enjoyable, with plenty of variety at both breakfast and dinner, served in a private room. There are three onsens on the property, though they were all quite hot. The location is great, close to Yudanaka station and the only Lawson in town, with easy access to the ski slopes and snow monkey park. Our room was pretty and spacious, but it wasn't well maintained. The building itself felt old and run down, and the lobby was dark when we checked in. It seemed to be owned by a friendly older man.

A lovely, peaceful spot for a break. We stayed three nights and would happily come back. The room was clean, roomy, and cozy, and we enjoyed all the onsens as well as the free coffee. It's an easy two-minute walk from the station, which made getting to the Shiga Kogen slopes simple.

Even with just one night here, the place made a lasting impression. It has a strong family-run feel, and I found it one of the most charming places I've stayed. The outdoor onsen was a favorite, and I liked that the private onsen was available without a reservation or extra charge. So cozy, convenient, and charming.
