A few things are useful to know: you can walk from the station, but go past the Lawsons and swing wide, or check Google Maps for the right street. Snow monkey buses leave from the station, so you'll need to leave bags in a station locker or walk back after checking in. Onsen hours differ for men, women, mixed bathing, and private use, so check the schedule. You need to shower fully before entering the hot spring. Dinner costs 8000 yen per person, and I thought it was worth ordering. Breakfast is served at either 7:30 or 8:30. I was beyond happy with my stay. The staff were helpful and answered all my questions about the food, wearing yukata, and using the 100% natural hot spring. I booked through booking.com, and their first message made me feel the stay would be great. I arrived earlier than expected while they were away for lunch, so they asked me to leave my bags at the desk. When I returned from the snow monkeys park, they had brought the bags up for me, even though they only do that if you ask. I could go into more detail, but it's better to experience it yourself, lol.

Dinner was amazing, and I recommend booking it at the ryokan. There are indoor and outdoor onsens, with some outdoor time slots reserved for private use, which is nice for couples or anyone wanting time alone. The staff were attentive and kind, spoke English, and made it easy to understand how to be comfortable during the stay. A great traditional ryokan experience. I hope I can return soon.

We visited in early January, and it was lovely to see the snow outside the onsen. The indoor pool was really warm, just right for winter. Everyone was so kind and explained things clearly.

Having private hours for hotel guests at the outdoor onsen was a real treat, and breakfast was great. The service was extremely attentive, accommodating, and kind. This has been my best accommodation experience in Japan so far. Highly recommend it.

It’s in a lovely spot if you want to stay just beyond the more touristy part of town while still being within walking distance. The rooms and onsen are beautiful, and the calm, carefully arranged space was a real treat. The staff were incredibly helpful too. When we couldn’t book dinner there, they helped us get a reservation at another amazing restaurant.
