HOTEL LiVEMAX Shin Yokohama

The room was far too small for what I consider reasonable. When I asked politely to switch from a double bed to two singles, the staff turned it down straight away without checking availability or suggesting another option. I asked to speak to a manager, and before the phone was passed over I heard staff wondering whether I was local or from overseas. That felt inappropriate. In the end they refused to change the room or bed and told me I could complain on any social platform. The response showed very little respect or customer care. I hope management takes this seriously and improves staff training, communication, and the way guests are handled.

The room smelled of tobacco, and the receptionist just said that was expected because it was a smoking room, even after cleaning. The bedspread was stained too. Tiny room, and the worst customer service I've had in Japan. 😭

It's comfortable enough and the room isn't quite as tiny as you might expect, though you do need to be okay with a small space. The location is right by the Shin ramen museums, and I also found a Wendy's nearby. Check under the bed, though, because there may be someone else's things there.

We spent a week here and found the stay unpleasant because none of the windows open. With no way to bring fresh air into the room, comfort took a real hit. The hotel should make this clear in its description. I'd give it one star.
