Yufuin O-Yado Yuki Onsen

A lovely view and a nice place to unwind.

The private hot spring and its own changing room were a big plus. It wasn’t shared, so we could soak whenever we wanted, and the price felt very cheap for what you get. It’s a whole two-story Japanese-style house, not just a room. It can sleep about 16 people, or four families, with a large living room, four tatami rooms, a kitchen and dining area. The toilets all have top-of-the-line Toto toilets. The location isn’t very convenient. If you want to buy food at Lawson at night, it’s about a 10-minute walk along an unlit road. The house is also so big that staying there as a family felt a little creepy to me, maybe because I’ve watched too many Japanese horror movies.

We had a group of six, and it came to around 3,000 baht per person on average. The place is very private and comfortable, with both an indoor and outdoor onsen. It’s a large, two-story ryokan-style house on a hill, with four or five bedrooms and living rooms on both floors. The dining area is part of the kitchen, which is equipped with cookware and appliances for preparing meals. There’s a bathroom upstairs and another downstairs.

There were plenty of beds, lots of room, and a kitchen with all the utensils we needed. I loved the private outdoor hot spring, and the water was really good. I was very satisfied with the accommodations and would definitely come back. The check-in process was so cumbersome, though, that I took off one star for the service.
