The baths on the 6th floor were especially good. Some guests seemed unfamiliar with basic onsen etiquette, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. For the accommodation, meals, and facilities, I thought it was good value and a handy base for skiing in Yuzawa. I stayed here while skiing and found it a solid ryokan-style place. The rooms are large, with a traditional tatami layout. Staff were friendly and accommodating. They spoke good English and Mandarin, or you could communicate using a translation tool. The station pickup made arriving straightforward. Breakfast had a good spread, and dinner was generous and served in multiple courses.

The Japanese food was really nice. The room is old and can feel cramped if you need chairs, unless you’re comfortable sitting on the tatami for a while. The corridors are cold, so bring warm clothes when you step out.

A shuttle time was given incorrectly, and we had to hurry on foot to catch our train. Then my daughter fell on the slope right in front of the hotel. We asked for help, but they turned us down. It was a very upsetting experience.

The rooms were good, and dinner service was by far the best part, a once-in-a-lifetime meal. The hotel entrance isn’t clearly marked on Google Maps. Staff don’t speak English, and their Chinese is very limited.

I’ve stayed twice now and enjoyed both visits. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel shuttle van goes to and from the train station every 30 minutes. If you rent snow gear at the hotel, they also provide pickup and drop-off service at the mountain.
