Park Hostel Osh

The location is handy, but there’s a bar next door that plays loud music and karaoke from the afternoon until late at night. The place also isn’t as clean as it looks in the photos. It seems three guys are running it now, and they’d rather play table tennis than clean. I stayed for two nights and it was convenient to roll my bicycle inside, but Osh has nicer and quieter places to stay.

The photos don’t match what you find. It’s a bit dirty, the men’s toilets smell, and there’s no greenery at all, even though the pictures show some. The receptionist was quick to reply on WhatsApp, which was the only positive. It feels like a hostel run by kids. There’s no pressure in the bathroom water, and the rooms all open onto a patio, so you can hear everything.

It’s a very comfortable place, with a big social area where people hang out during the day and evening. The location is good, next to the park and surrounded by places to eat and drink. The beds are comfortable and have curtains, the rooms have air conditioning, the showers are hot, and the WiFi mostly worked. The price is very cheap. The toilets are really dirty. They only get cleaned when it’s already too late, and not often enough. The toilet paper bin has no lid and is always overflowing, which is disgusting. There’s only one women’s toilet with a lock. The other one is open, so you can’t use it in peace, and people end up having to wait.

The location is great, with loads of restaurants and shops nearby. My single room was spacious, the AC worked well, and even though it faced the courtyard, it was quiet. The hostel was quiet overall, which I liked. Laundry costs 200 somoni and was great, with drying racks all around outside. There’s a tiny kitty on the property, and a kitchen where you can make your own breakfast and other food. The shared bathroom wasn’t the cleanest, with hair and other bits in the stalls and on the floors, though I’ve seen worse. I never had to queue to shower or use the toilet. WiFi worked but was unstable at times, dropping in and out, like in the evening when I guess everyone was online. As seems to happen everywhere in the Stans, animal welfare is pretty rubbish, and the tiny kitty seems to get more care from tourists than from the staff. 🙄 They only take cash.
