Sealofts On The Beach

Joyce was so responsive and helpful while we were there. She even called our rental car company to arrange a pickup for us. The condo was in a great spot, quiet and private, with a lovely ocean view. We could walk to the main strip for good meals, and it was a quick drive to some of the scenic beaches in the south. We loved our stay at the Sealofts and would happily return.

The gardens are lovely, with a pool and relaxed seating by the beach. Sealofts are raised holiday homes with lots of character. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and it’s a short walk to The Strip, where you’ll find several local beach bars.

Please avoid Unit 39. The owner, who doesn’t live on the island, agreed to rent it to me for a year at $1250 a month, with move-in set for Saturday, August 24th. I was already in St. Kitts and ready to move when, just 18 hours beforehand, she backed out. She said she’d changed her mind after talking to a friend and now wanted $1800 per month instead of $1250. She didn’t honor our agreement. I was left without a place for the next day, had to leave St. Kitts and return to the USA, and lost a job opportunity. I found her conduct heartless and unscrupulous. I’m sure there are plenty of good owners in the SeaLofts community, and I’d rent from one of them, just not #39. The WiFi didn’t work, the TV picture was too fuzzy to watch, and the decor was extremely tacky, though I could have fixed those superficial issues. The on-site property manager was very apologetic and couldn’t believe what the owner had done. The unit is three levels, with a VERY steep, narrow spiral staircase that won’t let you carry large or heavy suitcases upstairs. It looks onto the pool, not the sea. There’s a sea wall, so although SeaLoft’s is advertised as beach front, you can’t get to the beach. You wouldn’t want to swim there anyway, according to my view of it: the Atlantic Ocean is full of smelly seaweed and sharks. Locals swim on the Caribbean side of St Kitts, a 25 minute walk away.

The apartments were comfortable, and there were plenty of places to eat within walking distance. It’s also walkable to the Caribbean coast, where we saw a stunning sunrise and, by luck, a full moon rising too. A great base for exploring the island. I’d stay again.
