Hotel Gray

The owner was incredibly friendly and tried hard to explain things and help, even though his English wasn't great. The spot is really convenient, with the subway just a few minutes away and Busan Station about a 10-minute walk. From there you can catch a fast train to Seoul. There are coffee shops and restaurants all around, plus a convenience store around the corner for snacks, water, or a T-money card. It's a small two-star hotel, so don't expect the amenities of a four- or five-star place. It has basics like a toothbrush and toothpaste, small towels rather than bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, slippers, pajamas, a mini fridge and a hair dryer. There's no microwave.

It was really quiet and perfectly clean, with a modern room. The subway is less than a minute away on foot, and Busan Station, the main transport hub, is a 20-minute walk. They supplied toiletries, a hair dryer, hair spray, face wash and toner. In the afternoon, you can smell toast coming up from downstairs, which is lovely. I'd stay here again on my next trip to Busan.

The staff were nice, and the spot is convenient, right by the subway and bus stop. But my room was crawling with mosquitoes. I woke up with 40 separate bites and could see mosquito guts on the walls. The AC was loud enough that I kept switching it on and off during the night, so I couldn't get a full night's sleep. If comfort matters, I wouldn't try to save money this way in Korea.

It's handy being close to the train station, but the room was small and dark. There were loads of mosquitoes and fleas, and I couldn't sleep properly.
