Coatel Chèreville

It’s a fairly basic hotel, though having a washer inside the unit is handy. The toiletries could be better, and the shampoo and conditioner bottles are so hard to open. There’s also a small gym on level B2, but it costs extra.

There are lots of shops nearby, and bus stops and the rail system are only a couple of blocks away. The place was nice and clean, and mostly quiet. Our room included breakfast, which was good but a bit unusual. The bacon was more like American Canadian bacon, and pretty much every meal option came with a dippy egg. The staff spoke English well, though they were still somewhat hard to understand. Everything in the room was in Korean. They had translation cheat sheets for the thermostat and bidet, but I was too tired to figure them out. There was a hotel restaurant and a couple of others in the building, but we didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant, so I can’t comment on its other meals. I don’t think you’d be disappointed if you booked here.

There’s a lot to like in the rooms: wired internet, a mini-kitchen with a stove, sink, microwave, fridge and dishes, plus a washer-dryer and clothes rack. A convenience store and a few restaurants are on the ground floor, with plenty to do within walking distance. The rooms are clean and have a decent amount of space, but feel a bit dated. The shower seal has gone, so water leaks onto the bathroom floor. The sheets and towels aren’t very white anymore, and the TV still has a built-in VHS player. Service is uneven. Some days there’s only one towel for two people; other times they take away the extra sheet we asked for without leaving a replacement. The elevator is horribly programmed too. You can call it from the first floor while one is sitting on the third, but it sends the one from the 18th floor instead.

“Coatel Chereville” works well for an extended stay, with Gangnam subway station nearby and a convenience store in the same building. The apartment has a kitchenette, bidet, washing machine, and laundry rack. It was a pleasant, comfortable and convenient stay, and the staff speak English. The interior isn’t especially beautiful and has some deficiencies. There’s no cleaning service on Sundays.
