Daeyoung Hotel Myeongdong

The area is very good, though the amenities are limited, so you get what you pay for. Finding the place could be tricky: it’s up a somewhat sketchy alley, to the left of the convenience store.

The receptionists were friendly and very helpful, and the location is convenient. I spent five nights here with family, using a room for three and another for two on level 4. Of the places we stayed in Busan, Jeju Island, and Seoul, this had the smallest room, but it came with the most complete set of amenities.

I spent four days here on my own, which felt like the right amount of time. The hotel is in a good spot in the heart of the city and was a pretty good deal. At check-in, the front desk was polite and fairly helpful, about what I’d expect from hotels in Seoul. My only letdown was that the first floor is almost entirely underground, though that did help keep the room cool in the summer heat.

There’s no view from the room, but it was a decent size. Lovely staff, a wonderful location, and a great price. Free tea and coffee too. Just right for a night or two.
