Grand Mercure Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam

The only thing I wished for in the bathroom was a power outlet, since I had to use the hair dryer in the bedroom. Otherwise, we were impressed by the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The kitchen had a stove, sink, dishes, and even a washer/dryer, and the huge TVs let me log into Netflix. The bed was really comfortable after a day out seeing Seoul, and the shower and bidet were great. It was our first time using a high-tech bidet, and the warm toilet seat was especially welcome. We stayed four nights, my girlfriend and I, on our first visit to Seoul.

The bar felt especially cozy, with nuts and water served alongside the red wine, and music that brought out a lovely Christmas mood. In the room, the thoughtful extras like the complimentary mini-bar, Nespresso machine, and kettle made things feel more premium than I’d expected. I was drawn in by the royal, imperial-style decor, but wasn’t sure a Grand Mercure could match the five-star service and refined feel of sister brand Sofitel. It surprised me: the service was polished, the room beautifully designed, and the whole experience felt close to the Sofitel family, elegant and warm. ✨🏨🎄

Most of my stay was great. I liked the luxurious decor in the residence suite, the food was delicious, and room service was excellent. Housekeeping was excellent too, keeping the coffee pods, tea, sugar, and other amenities stocked. The staff standing outside in the freezing cold were so kind and welcoming, and the concierge had excellent manners and professionalism. Check-in left a bad first impression. It was late evening, but the front desk associate put in very little effort and only told me to go left and right for the elevator. I had to find my own way to the room and figure out where the elevator was, and he didn’t explain anything else until I asked. I went to the friendly concierge instead, who showed me where to go and helped with the room’s heating system. The hotel also charged a deposit to my card instead of just putting the card in the system. Front desk communication and people skills need work. I found it easier to communicate pleasantly with the outside staff, room service, housekeeping, and concierge than with the front desk. Still, I like this hotel because the rest of my stay was amazing.

On my second stay at the Grand Mercure Imperial Palace Hotel, the staff were just as welcoming and helpful as before. The room was very spacious and clean, and having a kitchen was a real plus. The location is excellent too. Thanks for making the visit comfortable again. I’ll definitely stay here next time!
