I left right away and booked another place. The staff weren’t at fault, but staying here just wasn’t worth the hassle. The shower was cold with weak water pressure, the toilet wouldn’t flush for some unexplained reason, and there was bug spray on the nightstand. The room had a faint cigarette smell, and I could feel the thick plastic cover under the bedding. It seems more like a place for a one-night stand. 🫡

I could hear the neighbors banging for the entire week because there’s no soundproofing. The mattress was uncomfortable, and sometimes the room smelled of cigarettes. At midnight, the manager called my room and asked me to pay for something I’d already paid for, then apologized.

This place is clean and quiet for such a central location. I was lucky they had a room for me last night, after the Itaewon trauma. It cost much more than usual, but the lady, or sajangnim, quickly prepared their very last room. Being just a street away from the tragedy had left me shaken, and that helped calm my nerves. The people I’d seen earlier that night seemed perfectly happy, and nobody was pushing anyone around. Everything was in order.
