Hostel Chloe

This was still a comfortable stay in Seoul and I’d recommend it for the price. The hostel is centrally located, close to Myeongdong, palaces, Seoul Station, a bus station, and Cheonggyecheon Stream, which is right in front of the alley. There are two 7 Elevens and a CU nearby, along with Starbucks, Daiso, Artbox, and Olive Young. The room is small, so praying inside may be difficult for Muslims, and I’m not sure which direction is qiblah. There’s no lift, though they do have a baggage lift. I also noticed a bad restaurant smell downstairs. I think rooms on the 4-5th level should be okay for noise from nearby bars and restaurants and for the smell. Inside the room, the bed and bathroom were clean. It had liquid shampoo and body wash, an automatic water heater, a refrigerator, dressing table, very cool AC, and TV. They also provide slippers and free mineral water. In my experience, there was one free laundry use, but you may want to check with the owner about that. The owner speaks English very well, there was no deposit, and towel changes were two per day. You have to sort your own trash. I was able to ask for a late check-in (+1 day).

Bring KakaoTalk, because the owner replies quickly and is polite and helpful. My friend and I stayed for two weeks in December 2023. We arrived at 2 am and had trouble finding the hostel, even with the driver helping us look. Eventually we found it in the same building as the seafood or grilling restaurant. The hostel has no lift, but the dumbwaiter was useful for getting our luggage upstairs. After a long day of walking and shopping, though, climbing the stairs could be tiring. Our room was four flights up (1st floor). There’s a washer and dryer for guests, with set hours so the noise won’t disturb other residents while they rest.

Hostel Chloe is centrally located, which is great if you want to be in the heart of Seoul. The place is small, and the rooms are compact, but they were tidy and well cared for. Cleaning was up to standard, so it felt comfortable, and the staff were friendly and offered useful local tips. It’s a satisfactory no-frills choice if you’re fine with a smaller space.

It was my first visit to Seoul, and I liked the hostel. The host Thomas was really friendly and ready to help with any questions. There are two metro stations nearby, which makes the location great. They also have a small kitchen with a water cooler and laundry service.
