I went in with modest expectations because the reviews were mixed, but my stay last December was quite good. The receptionists spoke English and were on duty 24/7. The hotel was easy to reach, with local restaurants and bars, plus bus and train stations, all within walking distance.

Gangnam food street is just around the corner, with tons of meal options, and there's a 7/11 nearby for snacks and drinks. The subway is very close too. Exit 12 at Gangnam station is about a two-minute walk, even though that exit was closed and I had to walk a bit to reach a crosswalk. I was pulling a massive suitcase and it was still super close. The price was reasonable and the location on this side of the city was awesome, though most tourist spots are at least 40 minutes away by train. I booked a room with a bath, but the first room I got, the 3rd floor Asian room, didn't have one and smelled weird. I asked to move, which seemed to be quite a lot of trouble for the clerk, and was put on the 9th floor in an African room (wut?). That room was generally better. The rooms felt seedy. There was mildew in the caulk, stains on the floor, tissue stuffed into the wood panels, and hard water soap scum on the many glass surfaces in the toilet and shower. Every single wall and piece of furniture had scuffs, dings, or scratches, and the slippers had clearly seen some things. On the first night, I found a heavy duty plastic sheet on the mattress as its 'protector' and realized this might be a love hotel type situation. A lot of the amenities were missing or unavailable, and the staff weren't very helpful. I couldn't get information or help about the airport shuttle, so at 5:30 in the morning I was leaving to take the train to ICH. There was no bathrobe either, and the AC didn't work. I accept responsibility for not realizing I was booking a one star hotel. I can't see myself staying here again.

Honestly, it was okay. I went with my dad, but we were given a king bed, so I had to sleep on the floor. The bathroom and shower were right inside the small room, making it cramped and awkward to move around. There was Japanese AV on the computer, which felt weird and unusual. The staff did try to understand what was bothering me, and I appreciated that.

The location is perfect, but the customer service made it impossible to stay. The receptionist on arrival barely looked at me and was no help when I asked how to use the wifi so I could contact friends while waiting for check-in. He said wifi was only available in the rooms, even though I saw a wifi sign in reception. That evening, the second receptionist kept repeating "no english" instead of helping. I gave up and went to find my room, then came back because I still hadn't been given the wifi details. She kept saying "no english" until I showed her the wifi screen on my phone, then she took my phone and entered the details. I was supposed to stay another night, but left because it was the worst experience ever and I didn't want my trip to turn negative. Don't bother booking here. I think you'd get better value and help at a capsule hostel in Myeong-dong or elsewhere.

It's a great spot, right next to Gangnam subway station. The room was okay, clean, and had a water filter, coffee machine, and double shower. But the staff don't speak English, and it was pretty noisy. A light pad glows in the dark, so bring a sleeping mask and ear plugs.
