JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul

The staff were the biggest highlight, so welcoming, professional, multilingual, and always ready to help. The hotel sits above an underground station, across from beautiful Heunginjimun Gate. We loved the spotless pool and spa. The gym looked very well equipped too, though I didn’t actually work out. Maybe that’s useful with all the delicious food in Seoul. And if you’re wondering about breakfast, go for it. The buffet is huge, everything we tried was great, especially the Korean and Japanese sections, and the coffee was excellent.

We especially enjoyed the lounge, where the desserts were a lovely highlight. The breakfast buffet had lots of options and a dedicated kids’ section, though the overall quality was fairly average. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a cosy bed and large bathroom. The staff were polite and very helpful, including arranging a large van to the airport at the last minute, which we really appreciated.

This was our second stay, and my wife and I loved it again. From the accommodating David Lee at the front desk, to the sweet note Vanessa Kim left in our room, to the great drinks and company at the Griffin bar with Brown and Luna, everything felt welcoming. The hotel stands out to me for its atmosphere, location, quiet, restaurants and bar, and superior service. The bed may be the best I’ve ever slept on. The signature Korean cocktails are well worth trying, and the coffee at The Lounge is next level. We’ll be back soon.

The Dongdaemun subway station connects from the hotel's lower level, which was especially convenient in bad weather. Bus 6702 also runs to and from ICN airport. The Seoul Wall Museum, the Palaces, and Seoul City Hall are all within a 45 minute walk at most. I spent a week at JW Marriott and had a fantastic stay. The staff were attentive and professional, and the hotel and rooms were well maintained, with great facilities including a pool, fitness center, and lounge. Breakfast at the onsite restaurant Tavolo was amazing, with lots of healthy, tasty choices made from quality ingredients.
