Mayone Hotel

The location was the only good thing for me. There's no breakfast, little service, and no tag or other way to tell housekeeping not to enter, which was really annoying. The housekeeper came in to change towels, but didn't make the bed. I read several reviews before the trip and still decided to try it. As expected, the rooms were poorly maintained. On the second day, one of our personal items went missing. We tried several ways to check whether such a small thing might have fallen into a nearby trash bin, but there was no way it could have been thrown out by accident, so it must have been taken. It was a travel keepsake, not worth much money but very meaningful to us. Luckily, the rest of us kept our luggage locked when we went out.

Mayone Hotel is right by the main Myeongdong walking streets, so it's a perfect base if you're in Seoul for shopping and food.

The location gets 5/5, right in the heart of myeongdong, but the family room wasn't worth the expensive price in my experience. We booked room 413 on the 4th floor. It has enough beds for four adults, though the big space in the middle only lets you open one piece of luggage. The AC is centralized, and I really wouldn't recommend booking this room because there's no proper ventilation. At night it gets very, very hot, with no window to open and circulate outside air, and the hotel staff had no fan as a backup. Staff weren't accommodating and answered only yes or no, without even trying to communicate in English. I don't know if it would've been the same in a regular room where the window can open.

It was freezing, and the temperature control was caked in something dirty that looked like dried puke, so I couldn't use it. The staff weren't helpful either. In the room, toiletries didn't match and I was worried they were contaminated, and there were random dirty, filthy, or broken objects. As I was leaving today, I noticed a spit wad on the ceiling. Horrible stay. I wouldn't recommend it. Stay here only out of desperation and at risk of peril.
