The location is genuinely excellent. Everything else was rough. There’s no elevator, so expect to haul your luggage up to the third floor yourself. The walls are thin enough that you’ll hear everyone’s conversations throughout your stay. Each night, people stayed in the common room outside the guest rooms until the early hours, and the manager seemed either unwilling or unable to ask them to quiet down and show some basic respect. The beds were rock hard, and the bathroom was dusty and moldy. You can find better places in Korea.

The hostel is well located for exploring Hongdae, and the Wi-Fi was very good. Our room had a washing machine and computer, but it was cramped for two, and we’d have traded those for more space. We tried to book an extra night for convenience, but the staff were so vague about whether a room was available that we went somewhere else.

The room was a shock, filthy, with mushrooms everywhere. After several nights unable to sleep, we finally looked under the bed and understood why it felt like hell. The pictures are disgusting lies. One staff member I saw was helpful, but the rest of the service was horrible. Breakfast was the same rotten pan for the first two days. After I complained, they replaced the pan, but breakfast was still just pan, butter, and jam every day.

For a very low price, you get a room with the basic things a traveler needs. It’s in Seoul’s Hongdae district, with Hongik University Station just two bus stops away.
