Ramada by Wyndham Seoul Dongdaemun

Of all the hotels I've visited in South Korea, this was my favorite. Our room was big, with three beds, and it was ready even though we arrived a little early, so they let us in. They can also store your luggage during the day if you need it. We were close to the subway.

The staff and service were the worst part. “Nate” was arrogant and dismissive, and the female staff I dealt with weren't any better. When I extended my booking, they said they weren't responsible and told me to call Expedia. I was also made to check out at 11 a.m. and wait until 3 p.m. to check back into the same hotel. Asking where to eat got me the answer, “Look it up on Google.” Requests for water, towels, or other necessities were denied. For context, I've stayed in hotels around the world, from luxury to budget, and haven't seen this combination of poor facilities and staff behavior. If these employees worked in sales for me, I'd fire them immediately. The facilities are old and worn out, badly in need of renovation. Furniture is falling apart, bathrooms are outdated, Wi-Fi unreliable, and the amenities barely work. Towels felt like sandpaper, the phones were old wired relics, and the whole place seemed neglected. I took photos to show how bad it was. Lower rates don't make this good value, just cheap quality. I picked Ramada Namdaemun because I used to work across the street and thought it'd be convenient. Big mistake. I rarely write reviews this harshly, but this was one of the worst hotel stays I've had in all my travels. I moved here from Courtyard Marriott, and it was one of my biggest travel mistakes. I won't stay again and will warn others away. At similar prices, VOCO or Fraser Place offer much better service and comfort. Ramada Namdaemun is a disgrace to the brand.

The rooms are big and clean, with comfortable beds and lots of storage. There's a huge fridge, and housekeeping cleaned the room and changed the sheets every day. The hardwood floors meant no dust like you get in carpeted rooms. Great location, definitely recommend it!

The breakfast choices were only okay, but the room service was great and the room had lots of amenities. The hotel is right in central Seoul, near Gwangjang Market and Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Staff let us leave our luggage before check-in and spoke clear English. There are bus stops and an airport limousine bus nearby. The lobby has a cafe, and GS25, Olive Young, CU, and 7-11 are close by.
