Roynet Hotel Seoul Mapo

Right downstairs there’s A Twosome Place, McDonald’s, and Olive Young, and a lively bistro area is about a five-minute walk away. Jinmi Sikdang, known for soy-marinated crab and recommended by Michelin, is also a pleasant walk from here. I loved the reddish wood interior and solid, well-chosen furniture. Nothing felt cheap, and the room and even the hallways were spotless, with a nice fragrance. The staff were welcoming and professional, and their English was excellent. I was in an accessible room, so there wasn’t a separate shower screen, but the bathroom still worked fine. The 10th-floor pantry was a nice extra. Room-to-room soundproofing was great, though from my street-facing room on the 5th floor I could hear modified cars at night. In the morning I noticed cigarette smell in the room, possibly from the smoking area on the 3rd floor, so I’d ask for a higher floor if smoke bothers you. The AC worked well in spring, which suited me as someone who gets cold easily.

This is my second stay at Roynet hotel, and I still love where it is. It’s the first stop from the airport and the last one before leaving the city. The limousine service and airport link subway are close by, and Hongdae is nearby too. There’s an Olive young, Starbucks, 7-11, and plenty of restaurants around. The hotel is clean and spacious, and the staff are nice. I always recommend it to friends visiting Korea.

The room won us over right away: cozy, comfortable, and really spacious. We especially liked the Japanese-style setup, with the toilet separate from the bath. There’s also a café, a restaurant, and laundry at the hotel, which is handy when you’re travelling. I’m so glad I picked this place and would definitely recommend it! 🤩♥️

The room was so cramped that our two suitcases nearly took up all the space, and we couldn’t open them fully. It made unpacking and getting organized a real hassle. I asked about an upgrade, but the first person at the desk said there were no rooms. After queuing again, I was told I could move the next day, so I agreed and paid the price difference. When I returned to the small room, my key card had been deactivated. Back at the desk, they said both cards had been cancelled, even though I’d checked in less than an hour earlier. I ended up queuing twice and spending more than 40 minutes just trying to get a room I could use. After 11 hours of travel, I was exhausted and very frustrated.
