voco Seoul Myeongdong by IHG

A friend who stayed here last August said it was nice and accessible, so I booked two nights. It turned out to be a wonderful stay. I'd reserved a standard room, but they surprised me with an upgrade to a premium room that had the same beautiful view of Namsan Tower. The staff were friendly, approachable, and easy to talk to, and the spacious, spotless room was really comfortable. I loved it. They also let me check out late, which I appreciated. The location is very convenient: airport limousine bus 6001 stops right in front, and buses to other parts of the city are easy to catch from there. For the return, cross the road and take bus 6015. I had a fantastic stay, with great service, comfort, and access around the city.

The location is very good, and the hotel itself is quite nice. The rooms are good, and the lounge is too, though it gets very busy. Breakfast is a bigger problem: the selection is decent and the Asian items are usually good, but it’s often packed, some bread is stale, and two coffee machines aren’t enough when one is often broken. For the room rate, that falls short. Check-in can also take a long time, especially when it’s busy, even for a diamond member, and the staff haven’t seemed especially friendly. The lobby is huge, so adding more check-in desks seems clearly needed. It would help to open the lounge for higher-tier members’ breakfast, even with a smaller selection, to ease the pressure on the restaurant. Please address these issues, since I know others complain about them too.

The housekeeping team, led by Youjinna, kept our room spotless and paid close attention to the details. Lizzy and Daniel made check-out quick and sent us off warmly. Earlier in the stay, Daniel gave us a friendly, professional welcome, while Joy and Jake at the front desk were always smiling and ready to help with our requests. Amy and Sophia in the lounge remembered what we liked and made excellent drinks. The whole team made our eight days at voco Myeongdong feel special. I’ll choose voco again when I’m back in Seoul, and hope to see everyone soon. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

The subway is right outside, and Myeongdong’s main area is about a 12-15 minute walk away. Check-in went smoothly. The room isn’t large, but it was fine, the bed seemed comfortable, and I was glad there was a bathtub.
