We stopped here on Feb 24. We booked a superior double with balcony but were put in a mouldy room with no windows. The owner seemed to lie, acting like she didn't understand English when the conversation got difficult. After 45 minutes she gave us a slightly better room, with windows but no balcony, and no refund. She insisted we cancel on booking.com, so we couldn't leave a review and she wouldn't have to pay commission. She'll also stiff you on the exchange rate. If you show up and choose your room, you'll be fine, which may explain some good reviews, but don't book in advance.

A nice budget place with really nice people. The owner was very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable, and there was a good breakfast selection. It's in a great spot, just a short wander from the night market, cafés, shopping, tourist booking sites, temples, and the river.

We stayed four nights in November, my first visit and my husband's second. I can see why he wanted to come back. The couple who own the hotel have two houses on the main street. We stayed at the one called "Vishay," a little farther from the river, though the river is still very close for walks in the morning and evening. Our room was large, comfortable, and beautiful, with lots of stained wood and two cane chairs. The bed was amazingly comfortable, with good pillows and soft linens. We appreciated having plenty of storage, as it made it easy to settle in and spend more time in the room than we'd planned. The room was cleaned every morning, with fresh towels daily. Everything worked, including the hot shower, other plumbing, fan, AC, electrical sockets, and electric kettle. In our two-plus years of continual travel, that kind of upkeep hasn't been usual. We also appreciated the mosquito screens on the windows. The hosts and staff were wonderful: friendly, kind, helpful, and non-intrusive. They made us feel welcome. We opted for breakfast and were glad we did. I can't eat eggs or the pancake because it contains egg, but my husband enjoyed both and I loved the fresh, delicious fruit each morning. There was all the coffee, tea, and cocoa we could want, plus packets of premixed coffee to take to the room for that first cup before breakfast. Mugs, water glasses, and the kettle were in the room. Guests could refill their bottles for free from a large jug of clean drinking water, which is much more ecological than buying bottles all the time. It's a great location, close to one of the most interesting temples in town, the night market, and the riverside. We've found it not particularly noisy, apart from occasional catfights, and really quiet late at night, so we've slept well. It's easy to walk to Luang Prabang's most interesting sights. This has been a wonderful stay, and I look forward to coming back.

Our family used four rooms at the VV, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Free fresh water was available from a dispenser, with tea, coffee, and breakfast too. All of that was more than enough for such a great price. It's a very short walk to restaurants, river walks, and the Night Markets. The rooms were clean and roomy, with good storage and two cane chairs. The beds were comfortable, air con worked great, and the showers had very good pressure. Rooms were cleaned and beds made daily, with fresh towels. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and Luang Prabang, and next time I'll visit the Elephant Sanctuary!!! One star off because the tile edges on the step outside the bathroom were sharp, so I had to cover them with the bathmat. Otherwise perfecto!

The service was very good, and the older guest house was clean and comfortable. The bed was very firm, which I like. It's in a quiet spot close to the night markets.
