Hotel Khamvongsa

The hotel is a short walk from the Mekong Riverfront, with its night market and fun fair, and the staff were generally polite and helpful. My stay went well overall, but at check-in the receptionist put me in a double room instead of a single. They upgraded the mother and daughter who were meant to have my room, then still had me pack up and move. That felt unfair. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though much too dark for reading at night, even with every light on. During the day, opening the curtains helped.

This was my second stay, and Ping at reception was amazing. They arranged the fast train, spoke with our next accommodation to set up transport from the station, and organized tickets back to Khamvongsa. The breakfasts were lovely, and the gin and tonics were fantastic. There are plenty of restaurants within an easy walk, and nothing seemed too much trouble. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Hotel Khamvongsa is still my favorite hotel in the world. Its old world charm and style have stayed intact while new corporate hotels seem to appear in Vientiane almost every month. The traditional rooms are comfortable and a good size, and restaurants and markets are close by.

We stayed three nights at Hotel Khamvongsa in June 2025 and were very satisfied. The hotel is beautifully designed, well managed, and very well maintained, with clean, spacious rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location couldn't be better. Breakfast had a few options to choose from. The croissant and fruit were delicious. I highly recommend staying here.
